Task 1: Learner Autobiography

Learner Autobiography

 I am twenty and I have lived my whole life in Valparaíso, Chile. I am currently studying to become a teacher of English at Playa Ancha University, which is located in my hometown.

   I started studying English because I have always felt close to the language since I was in elementary school and during high school. I always did well at this task, that is the main reason of how I get my confidence when I am trying to understand it and when it comes to speak it out loud. What is more, my teacher from high school always supported me and believed that I was one of her best students.

   But music has played a fundamental rol too. Pop culture has always been a huge influence for me and I have always been more interested in English-speaking artists than the native ones from my country. Therefore, I consider music as something that can be very determinant for you as an individual, since most of the knowledge that I have acquired has been during my free time when listening to my favorite musicians.

    On the other hand, pedagogy has never been something that attracted me that much, but I applied for this course of studies anyway because it is a social science that I have been learning on the road, and I can not deny certain aspects where I have been involved that have completely made a difference in my thinking about this profession, so there is when I have noticed that I can really contribute in a positive way.

  Finally, that is one of the things that I have learnt the most. If you want to get involved in the Chilean educational system, do it for the better, and I hope I can do it. At least leaving a mark in one student.
